Too late for me - sanity gone. I'd love to hear other people's tips though.

As far as budget, I have my paychecks budget usually at least three months ahead of time on an excel worksheet. That way I know what bills to pay with what check.

As far as the house goes, I have defined what my true priorities in life are. I strive for a clean house and actually maintain one most of the time. However I do not choose that house or the yard over the kids. Sorry! Their time is more important to me.

I guess I have an easier time for I lost my sanity years ago.

I find it hard to stay within my budget because things are always coming up that I just can't leave, like car maintenance, repairs on stuff, etc. It's crazy.

Also, this time of year when kids clothes go on clearance, I have a hard time NOT getting shirts for $2 and shorts for $3 to save for next year. It makes more sense to me than to spend $8-$15 a piece at the start of the season. That is where I have a big problem. The prices are so good, I can't justify not getting it. Then my credit card balance goes up and up. Not good.

It is very hard when you have just exactly enough to pay for things, without any emergencies or unforseen things taken into account.

I don't have any advice on the subject, as I'm barely making it myself.

Thank you House, for your reply. It's a good reminder that part of "interior Design" is keeping the home clean.
