We have had several tragedies hit in a very short period of time. One of my son's old friends died a few weeks ago of alcohol poisoning. He was 17 and a good boy. His mom is a friend of mine and she is devastated. A second boy, also 17, tried to commit suicide last week. His suicide attempt didn't succeed but he is permanently disabled. There was a time when I really resented this kid and his family. When I was having problems with my own son's rebellious behaviour, they let their boy run and told me I was too strict...etc. I realize now that this boy needed prayers and I was too busy being angry to see that need. About a week ago my dog had an abrasion that was growing infected on her leg. I took her to the vet and was told it was a tumor. The test results show it is a very agressive form of cancer that is too far along to do much. Eventually she will need to be put to sleep. I know that there is a reason for this too and I hope someday I will understand. At least with our dog, we had 9 years to love her and we have a chance to say goodbye. My son visited his friend in the hospital and it really had an impact on him. Then he was told about our dog who he loves. Life is fragile, don't take it for granted. Things are not always what they appear. I hope we all realize how fragile life is and that sometimes people need our prayers and our love when they deserve it the least. God Bless. |
