I don't think I made the right decision today. One of my credit card companies- are figuring the monthly payments differently so I would have to pay triple the amount I usually do ( keep in mind I don't even use credit cards anymore -this is debt from the marriage) so I consolidated all my balances on the cards to one-the interst rate is fixed but I went from a 11% on one, 9% on one, a 15% on one to a fixed 13%- my new minimal payment is going to be about $100.00 less than what I normally pay out in a month but the bank I went with told me I can be out of debt in about three years less than at the rate I was going with. Is bill consolidation smart as far as your credit report? Of course they told me it was.

Yes, bill consolidation is the way to go. It takes alot of pressure off from removing the multiple payments and you reach your goals faster. Good luck!

Often times you can negotiate with the credit card companies and they will lower your debt. My ex- sister inlaw did this, and I was shocked by how much they took off. I was actually pissed off becuase here I was not buying certain things becuase I spent to much else where that month, and they go to dinner a lot, she buys clothes all the time, and basically got it for "free" minus having bad credit. so call those companies and see what they will do for you.

All times are CT (US)
