Hello all! I am a single mother of a sixteen month old. I have recently become unemployed by my family who sold their business. Finished the 24 weeks of un-employment and have sent out over 300 resumes. Lost a majority of child support, have not been able to collect on rearage, spent thousands on legal fees, and depleted all loan outlets.

I don't need to ask Oprah for a new house and car. I just want to be able to survive and progress.

I believe all we need to know is what options do we have, what resources can guide us, and how did others overcome the same obstacles?
State aid will not help because I receive some child support. Cash assistance requires you to do career training full time at their facilities four days a week with out pay and I would need day care. Can’t return to school to complete my last year of a double degree and work and pay for day care. Can’t find a descent job with out that degree. The debts continue to accrue, the sleep decreases.
I still smile in the morning at my precious gift, I am truly greatful for what I have in comparison to others and I never regret any experiences.
Hoowwwwever; how do I get off the winding cyclical track and rise above?

I have not finished my degree and I still make a decent wage. Not getting rich, but I am purchasing my own home, pay the bills, and drive a decent car. In fact, I work with a number of people who haven't finished yet and are making it just fine. I also work with a number of people who have their degrees and are being paid the same wage I am. A degree is not a barometer to succeed or fail.
Basically, this is either a setback which will cause you to detour, or a failure which will stop you. It is up to you to decide which it is.
It might be necessary for you to take a mundane desk job with good benefits to get you by for now but remember that some companies do have tuition reimbursement and daycare discounts which can ease you over the hump. Therefore, you could look at that dull job that you don't really want to do as a stopping place to help you get where you really want to be.
It is great to send out resumes but sometimes nothing beats just pounding the pavement and talking to people face to face.
Good Luck.
