Just wondering if there are any other veteran single parents on this site? I've raised my daughter for the past 17 years and would love to hear from others who can relate. It's been quite the journey but I'm happy than I've ever been. Luckily I learn from my mistakes as I've never re-married. I live in Dallas and no one, other than my 80 year old friend, has been single as long as I have. |

I've been a single parent and have not remarried for 15 years. I date in spurts but then get tired of the game. It can get lonely at times, but then again I am comfortable being single, and frankly with all of the crap I've seen between married people I am really uncertain if I ever want to remarry. Bitter? no, but I like to laugh about it  |

Bitter? Bitter's good for the soul sometimes. You sound like you've reached the same conclusions as me. I'm proud of the wonderful daughter I've raised but am especially proud of myself for making the decisions I've made throughout the years. Successful single parents are survivors as I imagine that you are too. To be totally honest though, I'm getting kind of tired. My daughter is heading off to the University of Texas next fall and can't wait to get out of high school. I'm excited about getting to re-discover myself as my primary focus has been on Allie for all these years. |
