thought since we all aparently hav ea hard time finding humor in our daliy lives I would share.
For those of you who been on here for a while you probably get the idea that Lexie and I are very much the city girls. Neither of us like to drive, it is much easier to grab the metro (subway here in DC) or hail a cab if you can't hack the walk. I love being in the city and having everything with in a few minute metro ride or at most having to grab a five minute cab ride if I am beat.
So this past weekend Lexie and I went to Kings Dominion and theme park outside of Richmond VA. Well since we just moved to the east coast I am a bit directionally chanllenged, so I opted to take the train Ashland the closet stop to KD, about 5miles away. We arrive about 10 on Saturday morning and I step into the visitors center, because there is no real train station once you arrive. Now I lived in reno growing up and for a few months last year, but that is the smallest city I have been in. So I go in to ask for the cab company phone number so I can call a cab to take us to the hotel. The nice elderly woman behind the ocunter asks if I have called MR. Foster. hmmmm I am thinking, who the hell is Mr foster and why would I call him? So I explain no we just arrived and need ataxi to our hotel, again she asks if I called Mr Foster, so again I eaxplain I am not sure who Mr Foster is but I no I have not called him. She goes on the explain to me that Mr Foster drives the local cab. (i stress the local cab, as in one taxi and one driver, so not in Dc anymore, thinking about clicking red shoes together and getting out of here) So she nicely calls him for me and says he is on his way. Then goes on to tell me I should let him know what time we need to be brought back the next day to catch our train ride home. Umm ok I need to plan 24 hours in advance. Ok I cna do that.
So he arrives in a bad green and white striped van from the 80's with all the christian bumper stickers, emblems etc you can find, dont get me I am christian my car just isn't decked out in all the garb and well my car is a "taxi" either. So we get in and he nicely has the little tv that has a rolling picture turned on for us to the christian station, yay! And explains to me that he needs to pick us up by 830 the next morning because he has to take a few people to church the next morning and then after that he does his run to the prison to pick up the inmates who have been released. Where are the red shoes?
So we get to the hotel, a 4.2 mile cab ride costs me $31.
the next morning we get to the train area, at 845, pouring rain outside. No jackets, no coffee shops open nothing, after all it is Sunday. So we have to wait outside, true there was a small awning for almost 3 hours! Finally get on the train, soaking wet because you have to baord the train on the other side of the tracks where there is no awning.
Needless to say I was never so happy to see Dc and to be able to walk outside on a Sunday see 20 taxis waiting for you and 6 coffee shops open and ready to bring you a drink and food!

All times are CT
