so I figured most of you could appreciate this. As many of you know while going to school I have been working at Starbucks as well for the past 3 years. Needless to say I don't have to start my day with a cup of coffee but psychologically I am used to having my coffee, i don't get headaches etc I just enjoy my coffee. Its part of my routine. Well my personal things are being brought out in a few weeks so basically feel like I live in a hotel room right now and not an apartment. I have a wonderful espresso maker the kids I worked with in CA bought me when I left, so I am a bit spoiled get to make my own americano or latte whenever I want. Itis currently 3000 miles away. SO I got up early yesterday to walk to supposed .41 miles to my local Starbucks according to mapquest. I ended up walking over 4miles before I realized I was not having Starbucks this fine day. Did I mention it is frickin cold out there! SO after a four mile 2 hour walk I ended up at CVS pharmacy buying a single cup coffee maker. Perhaps psychologically just a bit addicted or just wanting a piece of home, not sure, but hey I was determined at least give me that much! Oh and I live off capital hill so the other non starbucks coffee houses are closed on the weekends. Breaking and entering was soundin glike a good plan I am pretty sure temporary insanity would have wokred. Two hours most sane people would have given up after 20 minutes. |

I think that's hilarious! I probably would have done the same thing because I would have gotten stubborn about finding a cup of coffee. |

nice to know I am not alone! i have heard from a few other (women of course) they also would have done the same thing. You get that idea in your head and you have to have it. although next time I know instead of the 4 mile walk just go to the one A in Union Station or B that is a bit further than you wanted to walk because either way is shorter than 2 hours. |

LOL-Been there done that! Mapquest has a tendency to put you in other directions, other than where you need to be or taking you the very long way around to get there. Especially when the climate is not ideal. Do you still have pet insurance with your new job? You may need it if you get a cat, dog and tomato plant. Welcome to my world!! 1. 2 Cats are front declawed, however can still beat the tar out of nosy, playful dog or puppy. Scratches and bite marks included. 2. Dog/puppy will not leave cats alone. Wants to play, now that cats are tag teaming her and usually win. (my one rescue cat is now chasing puppy around the house) 3. Latex gloves? Get used to it when cleaning up accidents from dog or hairballs from cat. 4. Tomato plants are highly toxic to dogs. (never knew that one until recently) I guess I won't have a garden this year. The list goes on but, hey, I wouldn't trade the furballs for nothing. As much as a pain it is, I can't imagine life without them. I usually laugh more than anything with all 3 of them. The rest of the problems are quickly forgotten. Dena |

Lex will be getting a dog, but not for a while it is going away to service dog training so it can be a dog for the deaf, I just want to work with her school to know when the best age for her to get it is, if it is a service dog it really shouldn't be hanging at home alone. As for all the fun stuff that goes with a pet, we had many growing up and it might take therapy before I am capable of handling a pet at home. I have a bit of call it what you want ocd, whatever. But I can't deal with pet hair on my clothes, I don't deal well with unorganization of any kind so pet hair and accidents might take some time to get used. Plants will at least be something living around here. At least 8 hours a day I get to be around adults : ) |

Two of my co-workers, work with Paws for Cause dogs. Not my cup of tea! I get way to attached to animals to do that. I wouldn't be able to give them up, even though it is for a good cause. Without people volunteering their time and effort, these programs wouldn't work. It is so much fun when they come to work for their socialization. The first one that I had met was Ajax and he was a beautiful Golden Ret., then after he graduated there was a picture of him in his cap and with his diploma in his mouth. Of course, I stood there, looking at his pic, crying. We have had several dogs in. My one co-worker does them on a full-time basis until service training begins, the other watches the puppies while the full-time raiser goes on vacation.Do you know what breed Lex is going to get? I'm sure she can't wait. Keep me posted and I actually can't wait to see pics!! :-) Dena |

we are getting a KleKli ( i buthcered the spelling sorry) it's a miniature husky, I don't want a big dog and I also know a lot of small breeds can get pretty territorial and be mean to other people so I didnt want that either. This way we have the size I want with the temperment of a husky |

Looked up the mini-huskey on the web. They are way to adorable. I didn't know they had mini's of the huskey. I'm thinking you and I are in the same boat as far as hair. I had to have my beloved short-hair dog put down this past Christmas Day. Yeah, it was horrible and probably about the worst Christmas for me and Alex. However, new puppy in our lives. Yikes! I think someone should shoot me! I forgot how much little terrors puppies were! :-) Winter is not the ideal time to be housebreaking a pup. She is only 4 mos old and is doing as well as can be expected. She is a Keeshond and talk about hair. I had a moment of insanity when I agreed upon her. Ya know, in the end, I wouldn't trade her for anything. I think once you get used to having a dog, you will get as much joy out of it as I do. They are there for you and Lexie unconditionally. Yep, forget about wearing anything black and lint brushes come in real handy. Dena |

Our boxer was hit by a car in the fall. We loved her so much and I really went through a depression over it. Now my boys want a new dog but I can't seem to do it. I'm thinking about a little fluffy kitten instead. |
