I found a new church with a youth group that I thought my son would like. This church has a young enthusiastic pastor who tries non traditional ways of getting his message across. So, I filled out the paperwork and a packet arrived with information on the topics of the next 6 weeks of Sunday sermons for the youth group. My son and his friend were really really engrossed in examining the packet and whispering and laughing and laughing and laughing. Finally, my son asks "So, exactly what kind of church are you now attending?" I asked him why so he shows me one of the fliers for the Oct 9th sermon. A bright pink and black sign that looks like a move advertisement reads:

National
PornSunday
brought to you by xxx.church.com

Exposing America's
Dirty Little Secret!!
Sunday October 9th.

Movie Premier:
Just Lust

Then just below that in a big box it reads

MISSIONARY POSITIONS
to be followed by Prayer at...

I don't think this pastor realized the implication but everyone certaily had a good laugh.

I spoke with my friend who has been attending this church for some time. She said that the message is abstinence for teens and anti porn for adults. The pastor wasn't thinking clearly when he posted the message at the bottom about the Missionary Positions to be followed by prayer. She said that he was just mortified when someone else brought it to his attention and he is planning on mentioning that this was an accidental slip in his Sunday Sermon. I told her to tell him this is so funny I want to mail it to Jay Leno or something. It is a great marketing technique because my son and his friend really want to go now and that Church's name is forever etched in my memory. The lord works in mysterious ways.

How right you are about the Lord working in mysterious ways. I am currently trying to find a local church that will peak my girls interest. There just doesn't seem to be much offered for teenagers. Any advice?

I found several churches but I had to 'church surf' to find them. First I asked around then I went to the services and picked up fliers. I actually found two that my son likes and one that he even asks to go to.
What city do you live in?

It deffinatly take time to look into churches to find one that fits all the member of your family. It took us over a year and I am still not fully comfortable with our church , but my daughter is happy with the youth group for right now. Thrilled about having to find anew church nest summer when we move. Just listen to Him he will tell you were to go.

Thanks for the responses. Cgracec, I live in Jeannette, PA. A rural city in the southwest part of PA, an hour outside of Pittsburgh. I guess I'll do some church "surfing" and definitely looking to Him for direction.

I live in Phoenix and moved across town so I had to look for a new church this last year. It is a time consuming process. I would suggest checking with some of the college campuses. If they cater to the college group, they tend have more for the teens and single parents too.
Good Luck!
