i have a friend who has a little girl by a woman that lives two hours away from him. he is getting ready to move up into my area which will put him up about five hours away from his kid. child support just went into order and they said its based off of 65 percent of his pay. my question are would it hurt him to move that far away and how is child support really figured on? please help me

different states figure differently, but basically both parents income are added then the total support from both parents is calculated and then divided by the two,
for example one parent, the custodial parent makes $50000, while the noncustodial makes 25000, total income 75000 which menas the child needs 1000 per month to live. the one making 50000 will be resonsible for 2/3 while the noncustodial will be responsible for the other 1/3 and thus will pay 333 to the custodial parent, if custody was reversed then the one making 50000 would pay 666 dollars (2/3 of support)

a parent can move anywhere they want; what they can't do is to relocate with a child without usually going throught the courts first.
