kathryn1 New Member	posted 11-10-2006 07:51 AM I am a minor and my parents want to have custody of my child and the father and I know it would be better for her. I am worried that it will cause an issue. I also want him on the birth certificate and she will have my last name but I dont want the state to go after him for child support with him paying for all and more that our baby needs. Any advice would help alot.
mommyof2 Member	posted 11-10-2006 10:46 AM The only way the state will go after him is if you or your parents get welfare for the child otherwise there would be no reason for the states to get involved. When you say your parents want custody does that mean they want both you and the baby’s father to sign all right over to them? If that is the case then you and the father are giving up your rights as parents therefore you are not required to pay any child support.
lexiesmom Member	posted 11-11-2006 05:17 PM If they want custody then Iam assuming they want you to both give up your rights, in essence they want to adopt the child. Then they can't go after him for support, if he did not give up his rights and you dont but they are raising the child I am not sure how that would work. good luck
