If you are only claiming yourself and nothing else. No house or anything. I really don't know how much you will get. But when I claim my daughter I receive the earned income credit and I get about $2500.00 and when I claim them both I get about $5500.00. But that depends on all other things like medical day care and stuff.

I have worked in the finance industry for 10 years. I am no accountant, and it's difficult to say unless a full return can be reviewed. A bit of advice, claim all the deductions you can. DAYCARE! Prior to having my daughter, I always had to pay in. I am 34 and I saw my first return last year:almost $2k and I was still renting. Get the car, build your credit(if needed)and buy a town home, condo/real property as quick as you can. You can expect a healthy return(more than you are used to anyway). It all adds up.
