I enter to a pastor office so that we could go over baptism. However, as I was sitting there waiting on him. He put a pen on the table and told me not take off with it. Mind you had my backpack and I just came from the college and I had my own pens and pencils. I was very offended that he would even think that I would steal his pen. I did not want to go through the baptism but I promise the Lord that I was doing it for myself and him. This incident happen to another member of the church also. A member walked over to a table to get pen to write so information down from another member. The pastor came over and told him that the pen was free to take. The member told him he just needed it to write some information and he wasn't trying to steal the pen. Mind you that when you walk into the church there are same pens on desks that you can write with. Now, I don't feel confident when he is preaching but I do feel confident inside the church. My children loves the church and I don't want to deprive them. So, how do I work this out with my feelings, the church and my children? I have tried other churches but my children don't like them. They like the church we attend with that pastor.------------------

Hi 7wishes...I would venture to guess that maybe there are some other unresolved feelings you have about your pastor beside this one "pen" incident. Personally, I would simply have passed off the comment as dry humor. Lord knows, I have, without any criminal intentions, stolen many pens in my day. I notice at banks that the tellers are always watching their pens to make sure I don't walk away with it! I do however think it is important to respect your pastor. I can't imagine attending a church where I didn't. I think you need to be in a church and with a pastor that loves God first and foremost but we should always remember that our pastors are imperfect also. Maybe you could talk with him. Good luck and many blessings...Marilyn |

I am thinking it may have been a n attempt at dry humor, or maybe just having a tough day, maybe it was the tenth pen that he had lost that day, you never know. Pastors have bad day too. If there are previous issues, try talking with him. Do you only have the one pastor? OUr church has a few which is helpful if you are not really comfortable with one you tend to be closer to another, personalities and all. If it is a contuined problem I would talk to your children you should all feel comfortable at the church you attend, it might mean changing churches. If it was only the pen incident I would let it slide and go through with the baptism, that is between you and God, not you and the pastor. Good luck we will keep you in our prayers. P.S. it took us 8 churches before we found one that Lex and I were both comfortable at. |
