Hi all, I just read this fitness tip and wanted to share. Personally, I do about 30 minutes of yoga every morning (about 10 - 15 minutes of yoga exercises which are basically stretches, followed by about 20 minutes of mediation/centering). I find this as a great way to start the day, and it compliments my other higher-intensity workouts I do later in the day. >>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>> Increase confidence, control stress and promote peace of mind -- it's all in the poses. Yoga also improves your posture and circulation, and increases your flexibility, strength and coordination. Many cities have a yoga association that provides information about various types of classes. Check the Yellow Pages under "yoga instruction," or call a local fitness center for the names of studios. The cost is typically $15 to $20 per class, with discounts for multiple classes. |

On the Mind, Body, Soul page there is a link to a great book that describes some yoga routines that can be done by anyone at home, at work, or anywhere. I concur with the tip about taking a class but it also helps to have a simple reference guide so you can do exercises more than once a week. |

Hi Shawn! I've been interested in doing yogo and meditation and got a couple of books about it.... I just can't get into the routine.. any tips on that?? Ps what do you do for a living? (I'm thinking you have a regular schedule, which I do not) |

it just takes a commitment and desire... when my kids were young I would get off work at 4PM and then work out for about an hour before I picked them up. I added yoga as a before-work routine, just about 20 minutes before I headed off to work, but I am not really a morning person so now I go to work and get some stuff done then close my door and do a short yoga routine and even some meditation. I think no matter how you fit it into your schedule once you get going you will wonder how you ever got along without it. I read that it takes about 21 days to establish a new habit, so just commit to three weeks and I bet it will turn into a lifetime. you also need to be honest with yourself about your motivations, my motivations for exercising are a few fold: I do it for myself, to feel and look better, and I do it for my kids so I will have the energy to be an active parent. exercising gives me tons of energy and it also helps me combat depression when that rears its ugly head; and I am more fit than my kids, I totally left them in the dust last summer when we were hiking and biking in the New Mexico mountains. all of us single parents are crunched for time, but I figure that if I can do it, as a single dad of three (once young but now older), then anyone else can. |

yoga is a powerful one...beware... I have always been interested + over the years been in + out of yoga, the mind + body balance is great BUT it took me ages to really get it !!!! and now as i go through the trauma with divource + raisng my kids Yoga is fantastic , just to relax... I would recommend to anyone however i am thinking that it could be yoga that is partly responsible for my current situation.. I started yoga again after finding a great new teacher... and she does yoga nutra where you go on a visual journey etc etc.. and i reckon all my chakras went over-board and all the thouhts that i did have about my then current relationship blew a gasket and since then a whirlwind is a gentle way of saying what is going on. Its crazy but i have an inner belief that yoga canb be life transforming but it has taken me down some interesting routes.. i now manage try tp manage 20 mins + a day + manage a couple of classes which every single time restore my mental + physical balance. For those out there wondering i truly have seen a transformation in my body...its more toned my flexibility has increased and it makes you feel great when the shit goes down .. at least your body nis on form. Go try + love it its great but be careful i believe its powers are under-estimtaed, especially by me.... |
