I tend to get down and moody right after I ovulate. It doesn't go away until after I've had my period. Some months it's mild and other's it's not. Today I had to have a to tell my employers that they have not been treating me fairly. Instead of being the composed business woman, I turned into a weepy cry baby. Granted the situation at work was a bit stressful, but I shouldn't have ended up sobbing at work. Now that my little girl is going through the two's, during this time I tend to stay aggitated and grouchy. During the other two weeks of the month, I'm a happy go lucky mom with the patience of a saint (mostly . The guilt I feel for being moody makes it even worse. Anyway, I've heard that a doctor can prescribe Prozac or some other drug for this time. Have any of you ever had this and how well does the antidepressant work? I've got an appointment scheduled with the OBGYN soon, but I'de love a bit of info. before I go in.Thanks! |

Hi, I have gone through the same thing after my son was born (8 years ago)It's hard to have PMS, a toddler, and be a parent, much less a single one to boot. I knowticed in me, I felt overwhelmed by day to day events and looking at the big picture was very overwhelming. My doctor, bless her sweet soul, told me to try Celexa and or Busbar. They work like a charm. I'm "normal" now, I'm not on an emotional roller coaster anymore. I feel all emotions, just not all at one at such a high level and during that lovely PMS time of the month it isn't nearly as severe as it has been. Nothing a heating pad and Lifetime TV can't fix. I hope this has helped. Also check out Paxel on the web and find out it will best help you. Good luck and don't feel bad, we all have that the moment in crying at work. It's a rite of passage if you will. Take care.Carrie

I know exactly how you feel. I went through a major depression but before that I would be on emotional rollercoaster all the time. One day up, one day down, even happy and sad in the same day, just like a light switch, my mood would change drastically. I got on zoloft, and while there are some side effects, e.g., wierd dreams and night sweats, my mood has completely stablized. My emotions are not like a tidal wave anymore but something I can control. I've tried several times to go off it, but it made me crazy. Everybody loves me much more on the zoloft. With stressful times such as these, I don't feel guilty to have to take medicine to help me out. I thank the doctor for giving it to me and hope that when life calms down and is less stressful I can stop taking it and feel normal. I'd be interested in knowing what the other medication the previous post recommended. I haven't heard of that. |

Thanks. I'm glad to know that it's not just me! I've got an appointment set up for next week, so I'll let you know how it goes. |
