I had to tell you all about this. I bought Denise Austin's Pilates for Everybody tape, and some other pilates tape and I am in love with this form of exercise! I have been doing it for only 2 days and I can already feel a difference. It is very low impact and easy to do, but makes a big difference not only in your muscle tone but also in your strenght and how you feel. Plus it is a lot of fun. I have been doing it for 45 minutes at night after my daughter goes to bed. I've tried a lot of different exercise tapes but this is one that I know I will be able to stick with.

I was up late one night clicking through the TV, and came upon an infomercial called "POWER 90" it is an exercise program that you do at home, less than 40 minutes perday. It combines areobics, kickboxing, yoga, and weightlifting.
I am proud to say as of today, I have lost 7.8 pounds in 6 days!!! <- that is alot for me anyway. (I put on 30 lbs after my baby.)
I have started drinking more water, and I feel so great!
If anyone is interested, "POWER 90" is a program from Beachbody.com

hailey'smom,
Keep up the good work!

Not only is pilates good for strength, it also increases your flexibility. I was looking for something that would help me with flexibility that wasn't as "meditative" as yoga and pilates was suggested to me. I never ended up trying it, though (just got a bit more disciplined about stretching before I work out).

Anyway, while I'm sorry I don't have anything to add from personal experience, I've heard tons of great feedback on pilates and may try a class or two sometime. Maybe I'll become addicted, as many people have told me they are.

Keep it up, hailey'smom and snow_cone!

I have to get in on this one! I need alot of encouragement in this area! When I pass a mirror, I see a MOM, not the women I used to be! I was always in such good shape! After the birth of my second set of twins, I just found it so hard to find the time or the money! Good News! I just received a FREE membership to our local YMCA which includes free child care. If you don't know this, all YMCA's do "not turn anyone away due to financial need". So I followed up on this one and got a scholorship! Yeah! My kids will also be in programs! Anyway, I am motivated to do this along with all of you! Keep up the great work you guys and congatulations to you snowcone for your big weight loss! I too, have 25 pounds to go!
Many Blessings...Marilyn

I am on day 8 of my pilates and I am addicted it really makes me feel better and I can already see muscles in my abs, yeah! lol. My daughter walks around doing stretches all the time now to copy me it's very cute and my mother is even doing it.

I was at the bottom when I read the first post. This post encouraged me to start working out. Since the first post, I have been doing Taebo-the basic workout-20 minutes everyday, well, almost everyday, and I have started eating a lot better and I've lost 12 pounds! I am really excited! So thanks for the extra boost to start losing weight!

That is great! 12 pounds is a lot! I haven't tried Tai Bo do you like it? I stopped the Pilates for awhile while my daughter and I were both sick but am getting back into it again, it really helps your energy level. I am also trying to eat better so that my daughter learns good eating habits too. Lets all hang in there together, lol

Taebo is awesome. I was into it the first day and was able to keep up! I never got into doing situps or pushups -- this is alot more active and works your total body. There is a bunch of tapes by Billy Blanks you should check them out!

I will check that out soon, thanks! Since the time changed on Saturday I have been getting home from work while there are still daylight hours and it has been great because I have time to go for walks with my daughter in the evenings. And then when she goes to bed I have been doing pilates. It feels great to be motivated into exercising again.

With spring here or on it's way(we have about 4 inches of snow plus it's cold) I have tried to get out as much as possible...it really helps to be away from the refrigerator when your trying to lose weight, yes?

Yes! If I could put a lock on my refrigerator when "The Bachelor" is on I would probably lose 10 pounds, lol

I know every week I swear, I'm going to bed early and I'm not watching it but somehow I keep getting sucked in, lol. Right now I am hoping that he picks Liz. I was so excited when Trista picked Ryan. The season with Aaron is when I first started watching and Helene was like my least favorite of all of them. Uh oh, sounds like I need a life, lol

I also love those reality shows.. Has anyone seen the new previews for the new show.."Mr. Personality".. where she has to pick a man based on their personality and not looks because their faces are covered !.. I agree that I also need a lock on my refrigerator too, but a munchie always goes good with a good show.. Haha .. must be why I am not succeeding in loosing weight also.

Hailey's mom-I didn't like Helene either!! And now look at them-their not together anymore but at least he's dating a model from Minnesota or somewhere!

Life, I thought I had a life! I kinda like my life....

I saw previews of Mr. Personality is it already on? Will these show EVER stop??? Maybe we need to start a single parent bachelor/bachelorette show! What do you think?

Hey Snowcone--Congratulations!! I too have kept it up and am up to 27 pounds.

It does take a lot of work but once the pounds start coming off--it seems to be easier to keep with it!!

I have not had any luck at losing even 1 pound. I just can't seem to stick with anything. And I do the pilates when Hailey goes to bed at a decent time but lately she's been staying up later and I just can't convince myself at 9 or 10 at night to do it. I am going on a vacation to the beach in 5 weeks and I have GOT to get busy because right now I feel ridiculous in a bathing suit. I'm not really over weight, but to myself I don't feel comfortable because my whole life before my daughter I was always thin and in shape and now if I could just get my stomache to be even slightly smaller I would be SOOO much happier. It's been awhile since I've been able to post and I wanted to tell you all I'm game for this single parent reality show. lol I actually looked at the application for the Bachelor out of curiosity and it says no one with kids may apply. Which I think is totally unfair, but I could never leave my daughter for the amount of time it would take to film anyway.

I have been doing the pilates every day for 2 weeks now and Hailey does it with me sometimes (very cute) I'm trying to stick with it and her encouragement helps.

Elsie and I love to go for walks and bike rides. She is the one asking if we are going out after supper.

This week is bad. Stuff going on and then I have to help a friend, one of his camera guys didn't show for him. So this since Wednesday I work and then I work for him till around 9 or 10 and all over again. And lets not for get the 10-12 hour day on Saturday. I'm sure all this working has to help the bottom line.

This is a busy week. But then again, I put in a 11 hour day last Saturday. Sometimes it blends together.

I would rather work those hours all the time and keep busy, but with having my girl I can't and don't feel right leaving her. This week it's for a friend and he has an older girl who watches her and they have a young boy and girl around my girl's age.

Plus, for the rest of the summer I am taking my girl for another day so her mother can take some class.

SO, it get it back on topic, the weights are collecting dust this week.

All times are CT (US)
