My 16 year old is smoking. Neither myself or my other children smoke. Nothing I seem to do or say works. Anybody else with experience with this situation, suggestions please. |

I'm an ex-smoker. I started as a teenager and smoked 10 years. They say it's the most addictive substance there is. This is extremely serious. How long has your teenager been smoking? It is so hard to quit and it's so deadly. Cigarettes killed BOTH my parents-- at a relatively young age. I would do anything in my power... anything... to stop this. Take cell phones, take driving privileges, take weekend freedom, take the stereo away, the iPod, ANYTHING. Talk, talk, talk about how addictive it is and how it gets worse with time. It is the worst habit. Yours is only 16 now so you have the power to enforce a no-tolerance policy. Once your child is 18, it's much harder. Do whatever you can! |
