My Ex has moved away from his children, far away. Is it my resposibility to keep him informed of everything our children do? Should I inform him of our daughters first steps, first words etc? Our son's first day at school or soccer game? Do I have to send him photos of the children and birthday gifts from them and home videos? Of course my son will tell him things if he wants to speak to him on phone, but he not a phone talker. So I'm wondering if I should bother doing the rest? He left us for someone else and he will ring on occaision to enquire about the children. I'm feeling that he's the one who chose to miss out on all of this so tough luck, or am I just being a vindictive cow?

I am not sure where you live, I am in Illinois and have the very same situation. I have full custody and there is nothing in my custody papers that says I need to do anything. My son who is now 7 was left by his father at the age of 2, he moved to Las Vegas and started a new life. He rarely calls and doesn't visit. I DO NOT send him anything!! It is his responsibility to call, visit and inquire about his son! I am with him 24/7 and he cannot take 5 minutes out of his day to call and say "how's it going" The only time I ever call him is if my son is hurt or needs medical attention. He is not listed on any school paper work, emergancy contacts or even as his father. It's not that I am bitter by any means, I just think I have enough responsibilty as a full time mother that I cannot keep his father "up to date" as well. If he cared he would make the effort!!!
